I would like to nominate Mary Fitzgerald, Branch Manager for Savannah Bank, Whitemarsh Island.

Mary went above and beyond to assist with setting up a special account needed by a program at my church.  Thanks Mary, for your care and concern and great attention to detail.

I want to nominate all three of these ladies from United Community Bank at 24 Drayton Street for the "Service That Always Rocks" Award.

    Here is why:

When we first started talking about finding a sponsor for the customer service awards, I was thinking about businesses in Savannah that excel in customer service -- United Community Bank was the first business that came to mind. I was reminded of a recent incident where Katrina Barnwell took the initiative to pick up the phone and call me because she had noticed unusual activity on my account that might indicate fraud. All three of these front line tellers/CSR's at United Community Bank always greet me by name and accommodate anything requested. They are cheerful, have interesting conversation with me and really work well together as a team.

These three are top notch -- which is exactly the reason why I thought of asking United Community Bank to sponsor the Celebration of Service Event. However, it is hard to choose only these because there are others such as DBA Board Member, Karen Martin, who cares about her clients in a way that goes way beyond what would be expected and DBA member, Deborah Wright, Branch Manager, who is very responsive, professional and just wonderful to work with.

The staff at the other UCBI branches (Victory Drive and White Bluff) also have knowledgeable and caring employees, all of whom epitomize excellent customer service.

Tim and I have another nomination for the Savannah Downtown Business Association Star Service Award.

We would like to recognize Kevin O'Malley. Kevin is a Guest Services Staff Member at the Eliza Thompson House (Inn) . The Inn is located at 5 W Jones St. The telephone number there is 912-236-3620. The Eliza Thompson House is located at the intersection of Jones and Bull Streets.

Kevin's job description puts him literally out front and in the street or on the steps of the Inn. He is an efficient, knowledgeable and highly personable presence to incoming guests as well as the casual passerby. He has endless patience in assisting guests of the Inn and visitors to our city with parking, directions and recommendations.

Kevin is a walking encyclopedia of Savannah including SCAD information.

Please add Kevin O'Malley to the list of Star Service recipients. He truly deserves recognition.

My husband Tim and I are the owners of the Smoothie King Broughton St and are also members of the Savannah Downtown Business Association.

I would like to nominate our downtown USPS mail carrier Nicole James for this award. Nicole is absolutely the epitome of graciousness, good humor and outstanding service. I actually look forward to seeing her on the mail route and am disappointed when the routes are sometimes changed and Nicole does not appear. Reluctant to talk about herself, Nicole always makes it a point to inquire how my day is going and if the office needs anything.

Nicole's smile is one of her most distinctive features. This smile is always present no matter the time of day or the weather conditions on her downtown walking delivery route. I have never heard Nicole complain about her job or her customers. I walk to and from work. It is not unusual to see Nicole helping out of town visitors with directions and information even if this is not part of her job description. She is a wonderful ambassador of good will and good humor. Nicole's positive interaction with these confused visitors is an invaluable contribution to Savannah's image as the Hostess City.

I enthusiastically submit this nomination! Other mail customers will confirm my high regard of Nicole James and this nomination.
